Salt Designs

Interior design studio · San Diego

Rooms made of things that age well.

Salt Designs works on whole homes, renovations, and single rooms for people who would rather live with limewash, oak and linen than with a look that expires. We draw the plan, specify every finish, manage the trades, and stay until the last shade is hung.

Services

Four ways to work with the studio.

Every engagement starts the same way — a walk-through of the space — and scales from there.

Full-Home Design

Floor plans, elevations, furniture, lighting, textiles and art, specified room by room and installed in one go.

Whole house

Renovation & New Build

We work alongside your architect and builder on layout, millwork, tile, plumbing and finish schedules before the walls close.

With your builder

Single Room

One room, start to finish — a living room that never settled, a primary bedroom, a dining room you actually use.

One room

Styling & Install Day

Your pieces, rearranged and layered: rugs placed, art hung, shelves edited, lighting corrected. Done in a day.

Half or full day

Process

Three phases, in order.

Phase 01

Walk-through & brief

Ninety minutes in the space. We measure, photograph, and talk through how each room gets used, what stays, and the budget range. You leave with a written scope and a fee proposal.

Phase 02

Design & specification

Plans, elevations and a full materials board. Every item — paint, tile, hardware, fabric, lighting — is specified with a sample you can hold, priced, and approved before anything is ordered.

Phase 03

Order, manage, install

We place the orders, track lead times, coordinate the trades, and receive everything to a warehouse. Install happens in one day where we can, and we style it before you see it.

Materials

The palette we keep coming back to.

Finishes chosen because they patina instead of wearing out — the studio's standing library, adjusted to each house.
